Honeymoon Destination: Switzerland

Switzerland is a beautiful country for a honeymoon destination. It has mountains, rivers, green pastures, and a lot of history. We all know about Swiss chocolate, cheese, watches, and army knives. But, it is the scenery that will take your breath away. Switzerland is a blend of French, German, and Italian cultures.

On our trip to Switzerland, we arrived at the airport in Zurich and drove to the city of Zug where we stayed. Zug is the smallest city in the smallest canton of Switzerland. Its train service is superb and you can travel to any city in the country and most are day trips. Switzerland is a country of trains and getting a rail pass before you leave is an exciting way to see the country.

The Swiss Alps offer nearly year-round skiing and mountaineering. The countryside presents magical views of the country. There are wooden houses, small villages, lakes and meadows with mountains as the skyline. If you do not mind heights, you should take the train to the Jungfrau region and then the little cog railway to the Honeymoon Destination: SwitzerlandJungfrau glacier. You enter the glacier through a cavern with many paths of beautiful ice carvings. There is an enclosed cafeteria with huge glass windows so you can look at the glacier from the inside. Again, if you do not mind heights, you can go out on the observation deck to look around the glacier.

If you love art, Zurich is a city to visit. There are many superb art galleries in the city. The Limmat River runs through the city. It is on the edge of Lake Zurich which is ideal for picnics, swimming, or sunbathing. The town has historic homes from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Geneva is the international city. It is the European center for the United Nations. Many international conferences are held there each year. It is on the shore of Lake Geneva and has many buildings of architectural interest from the Gothic and Romanesque periods. There are a number of museums featuring art, history, and culture. There is a lot to do and see in this city.

Switzerland is romantic and unforgettable. The people are friendly and charming. The countryside is breathtaking. It is a blend of cultures and very tranquil. You will have an excellent time on your honeymoon in Switzerland.
